Emily teaches private lessons in Voice, Violin, Piano and Guitar. Her teaching philosophy fosters a sincere love of music and she encourages students to see their musical abilities as a form of self-expression. She believes that music introduces students to the PROCESS of learning and setting attainable goals. We live in a very “result-oriented” culture and music encourages a love of self-improvement, as well as an understanding of personal growth that transcends the barriers of pre-conceived success. Music is a way for students of all ages to learn the appreciation and love of hard work and commitment, without the pressure of attaining a tangible result. Emily is a firm believer that every student must love the art within themselves more than they love themselves in the art.

Vocal Lessons 8+
Her lessons start with vocal warm-ups and exercises that help students safely experiment and understand all aspects of singing including breath energy (support), range, pitch, tone (timbre), and expression. The goal is for students of all ages to experience a
natural and fun approach to all sounds the human voice is capable of producing. All of these exercises are meant to be helpful tricks for students to do at home so they become more familiar and comfortable with the sound of their natural voice. Vocal technique should free your voice so that you can express yourself in whatever musical style moves you! Most importantly your lessons should be fun and build your confidence.
Violin Lessons 10+
Emily loves to encourage playing techniques that build the muscles necessary for perfect playing as well as develop good habits that are comfortable and safe for a lifetime of enjoyment. Students begin to learn how to read treble staff from their first lesson. Emily approaches music notation as a fun language for her students to learn and reinforces patience and practice in every lesson. As students become more advanced, lessons revolve around: ear training (musicianship), theory, scales, and improvisation while students learn pieces of music that are fun and expressive. Students learn Classical and Contemporary pieces (pop, R&B, country, rock, even hip-hop) that they decide they want to practice and learn. Emphasis is placed on the joy of playing, the rewarding process of practicing, and personal creativity and exploration.
Piano Lessons 5+
Emily starts young students and beginners with a basic introduction to the piano and encourages proper technique from the very first lesson. Students immediately begin to learn how to read music through fun and easy to remember fundamentals so they can experiment with good habits of playing on their own. For the first lessons, Emily brings her own materials and recommends a book based on a students experience level. She has many clever and easy physical warm-ups so even her youngest begin to develop the muscles necessary for comfortable and fun piano playing. Her students are encouraged to love experimenting with their keyboards and not be afraid to try new things and be as expressive as possible. Lessons revolve around fun and rewarding games and exercises that her students want to practice. Advanced players will focus on solid technique, musicianship, sight-reading, scales, and varied repertoire. It is very important to Emily that students get the play and learn the style of music they enjoy. Many of her students begin writing their own compositions at a very young age, which is very much encouraged all while reinforcing proper and safe technique for a lifetime of playing.
Guitar Lessons 8+
Emily’s guitar lessons emphasis: rhythm, scales, progressions, and music reading (both tablature and staff). We immediately enforce solid position and technique so students can experiment safely at home without tiring quickly or putting strain on their hands and wrists. We work from basic method books so students are prepared to play any piece of music that is handed to them. However, it is very important that her students get to pick repertoire that they listen to and enjoy so they learn and express the music that moves them.
Combination Lessons
Are you a singer-songwriter or an actor who wants a chance to work on more than one skill in a lesson? Emily loves teaching combination lessons and is very familiar with the coordination it takes to sing and perform something else simultaneously. Many of her students bring in pieces they write on the Piano or Guitar and practice how to develop good technique and performance skills. Her studio also includes actors who want to develop proper singing technique while moving, dancing, and expressing onstage. For more advanced performers, we can do mock audition, or mock performance, lessons so her students are fully prepared to perform in front of an audience.

John O. – Piano Lessons (for adults)
I started taking piano lessons from Emily Rose about 2 years ago. I had recently retired and had never played any musical instrument at all. Emily is a knowledgeable teacher who is also patient, encouraging and friendly. Emily helped me get thru the basics, which was not easy, and continue to grow and learn.
Ted K. – Singing Lessons (for children or teenagers)
Our 10 year old daughter started with Emily 1 1/2 years ago and our experience with her has been phenomenon. She has given our daughter confidence not only to sing but to talk in front of others whether they be adults or kids. Ms Rose is great with our daughter. They have an excellent rapport together. According to our daughter she is easy going and fun but very strict with the lessons. The way she presents the lessons makes our daughter look forward to the next lesson. We have heard her sing and she a superb Mezzo Soprano. Our experience with Emily Rose has been so successful that my daughter is starting to learn the guitar with Ms Roses guidance.
Emily K. – Violin Lessons (for children or teenagers)
Emily is a wonderful teacher! Although my son is very shy, he felt very comfortable being taught by Emily. Her method of teaching is extremely effective. After a few months of lessons, my son was playing full songs and really had an understanding of the piano. Emily also gave a few violin lessons to my other son who is 7. Just two lessons and he knew so much and understood where the notes on the violin were. I even recommended Emily to my niece in Oregon for her violin lessons. Wonderful teacher!
ONeill-Knasick – Singing Lessons (for children or teenagers)
She is very supportive, sweet, tells you the truth, truly made me a better singer
Dave M. – Singing Lessons (for adults)
Emily works with me where I am at and challenges me to excel beyond where I think I can go. Emily is intelligent, witty, personal and a master at what she does. I am so very grateful to have Emily as my teacher. I really never thought I could sing, but every day I practice something changes. I look forward to every lesson.
