Emily Helena Rose

Emily Helena Rose (she/her/hers) is a classically trained mezzo-soprano, T.V./Film and stage actor, voice artist, multi-instrumentalist, conductor, director, and teacher based in the Capital Region of New York.  As a teacher and vocal pathologist, she has a vested interest in working with individuals with vocal disorders and individuals in vocal transition. MM (NYU), MSEd (St. Rose), BM (DePauw University).

Her praised prowess as a theatrical performer has enabled her to succeed professionally onstage in both opera and musical theatre.  Some of her operatic credits include, Le Nozze di Figaro, Falstaff, La Cenerentola, Rossini’s Nina, La Boheme, Die Fledermaus, Cendrillon, Little Women and Street Scene.  Recent musical theatre credits include: Once (Girl), 1776 (Abigail), My Fair Lady (Eliza), Jekyll & Hyde (Emma), Guys and Dolls (Sarah), Phantom (Christine), Hooray for Hollywood* (Ethel), Sweeney Todd (Johanna) Reg./Tour: Camelot, Les Misérables, Beauty and the Beast, Sweeney Todd. T.V./Film/Voice Over: Paramount, HBO, Peacock, Amazon Prime, Audible, Searchlight, A Complete Unknown, Smile 2, And Just Like That…, Pretty Little Liars: Summer School, The Gilded Age, Pokerface, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.  proud member of AEA and SAG-AFTRA.

Emily has performed regionally, in NYC, and abroad with Phoenix Entertainment, NY Lyric Opera, Amore Opera, Amato Opera, American Opera Project, Dicapo Opera, Opera Company of Brooklyn, Regina Opera, NYC Opera VOX, Bayview Music Festival, AIMS Graz, and has performed with La Lirica Musica, the Puccini Opera Festival and the Rossini Opera Festival.

Originally from Indiana, Emily’s first love was the violin and has played since she was seven years old.  She studied with and was inspired by incredible teachers including Lorelei Farlow, Richard F. (Dick) Dennis, and Jennifer Farquhar.  She performed violin with the extraordinary Cathy Morris at the Indy Jazz Festival, Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra, and the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra all while pursuing an undergraduate degree in Vocal Performance.

Since moving to the Capital Region of NY, Emily has music directed and conducted Once On This Island (Black Theatre Troupe of Upstate New York), The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (Steamer 10 Theatre), Disney’s: The Little Mermaid (CDAI), Beethoven: Live in Concert* (Fort Salem), Disney’s Beauty and the Beast (Columbia High School), Disney’s Tarzan (Schenectady Light Opera Company), It Shoulda Been You (Schenectady Light Opera Company), A Funny Thing Happened On the Way to The Forum (Schenectady Light Opera Company) and Merrily We Roll Along (Schenectady Light Opera Company), Bells Are Ringing (Not So Common Players) and Nice Work If You Can Get It (Not So Common Players).

Emily is proud to be the Associate Director of Education and Director of the Musical Theatre Conservatory at Barrington Stage Company in Pittsfield, Massachusetts.
